Greetings! Hi, I’m Rifky Adina Irawan, a college student from International Program of Accounting or well-known as IPACC from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta batch 2018. Last semester I’ve been given the opportunity as the one of the representative for studying in Khon Kaen International College, Thailand as a student exchange. It has had always my dream to studying abroad. I went there on January as the opening of the year, that’s why I wrote new chapter and also a new challenging and memorable journey. Not only I but I went there with my other five friends. Two of my other friends had different major with the rest of us. We need to take 2 different flights route which is from Jakarta to Bangkok and Bangkok to Khon Kaen. After arriving in Khon Kaen, representative from KKUIC took us to our dormitory and also showed us the way to go to campus. We need to have a little walk and took bus that the University has provided for their student. What really make me amazed? It is because Khon Kaen University gives a lot of good facilities and have wide area.

We took 4 majors there and gratefully we attended in International class, so it’s not really difficult to talk with Thailand friends since none of us can speak Thai Language. But, some of them might not speak English well and sometimes I couldn’t understand what they say due to their accent. I got a little surprised because they are a lot of multicultural student there because in My Indonesia University I could only see a few foreigner studies there. The lecturing, it’s easy since in English and I enjoy it. Because the lecturer or we called Ajarn (Thai Language), they are super kind and have fun way to lecture. Thailand culture totally different from Indonesia, since in Indonesia mostly are Muslim meanwhile in Thailand most of them are Buddhist. Therefore, it’s kind of difficult to find halal food. Before went to Thailand, as good visitors we have to take a note about do’s and don’ts do in Thailand. We also learn the basic language and gesture to respect the local.

Night markets always open weekly near the campus. They sell many things and it’s pretty cheap! Therefore, we went there when we don’t have something to do. Trying new food, buying clothes and things, hanging around and chilling near the lake, also sightseeing. But we have to go back before 9 am or we could miss the bus.

Beside I need to learn and study well in Thailand, I have other motivation that I need to fulfill. It is about explore and experience more. So these photos are taken with our new friends. Unfortunately and sadly, while we are in Thailand, Covid-19 was still around and became more serious. That’s why we decided to come back to Indonesia earlier than we  planned before. Therefore the trip to Bangkok need to be cancelled. But everything was the best decision I ever made in my 20 years live. I would like to go back again to country so called as white elephant country near in the future.
