UNIRES (University Residence)
As a campus based on Islamic teachings, UMY is committed to produce graduates who not only excellent in scientific and technological aspects, but also have Islamic insights and personalities. Student dormitory held at the University Residence University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (hereinafter abbreviated as Unires). The existence of this Unires originated from the desire of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta to have a representative student dormitory for student coaching. The aim is to provide students and students with a personal and Islamic guidance for UMY students. The wish received a response from the government program that provides grants Simple Housing Rental (RUSUNAWA) to private universities as a shelter for students. UMY got three twin blocks of Rusunawa design and technically changed into cross block with internal assistance fund. One building is located north of the campus and the other two in south. Then Rusunawa with the name of Unires was inaugurated by the minister of Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia on February 29, 2008. Unires used since inaugurated with trial program for one semester and only on female students. After that officially used for male students one building in the north and female student two buildings in the south.
