Student exchange to University Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) is an exchange program by Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UMY and opens the knowledge of student and gives invaluable experience to student participating in the program. Alhamdulillah, I, Didik Fahmy Lasodi, an accounting student batch 2014, was part of the program along with 4 other batch 2014 students (2 from management and 2 from IPIEF). I was the only representative of accounting although it felt difficult to study in the class in USIM with different department from mine (accounting).
On October 31, 2016, our departure from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur Internal Airport, this was the second time I went to Malaysia. An important experience of increasing knowledge and adding more channel in a foreign country plus with the existence of exchange friends from other universities participating in exchange program to USIM also. Unfortunately the departure of batch 1 of exchange program was delayed by the departure visa to Malaysia, this factor made me and the others enrolled in USIM lectures at the middle of the semester.
Lectures in USIM were certainly felt different compared to studying in UMY, not only the class situation that, of course, using English, but also the facilities available in the campus and the interaction with USIM students. The Islamic students atmosphere supported friends from Indonesia to learn various matters of how can or what is motivating students there to highly appreciate Islamic values. There was also an interesting point from the lectures given there that was in the final exam all students do the exam in Canselor (Auditorium) so that every student from different faculties are gathered in the same room.
In Malaysia, we were not only studying but also participating in programs by SEKRE FEM (similar to Faculty BEM in UMY) that involved us in their activity of visiting other universities in Malaysia such as UUM (Universitas Utara Malaysia) in Kedah region and also visiting Medical Faculty of USIM which is located differently in Kuala Lumpur as the main campus is in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. With this, it is hoped that friends and junior in UMY especially Faculty of Economics and Business can continue our journey that have cooperated with USIM. Hopefully can get exiting experience in the youth and always carry the good name of our campus.
